Apple has officially revealed that its entire iPhone 16 lineup, including the base model and the 16 Pro Max, will come equipped with 8GB of RAM. This upgrade, driven by the demands of Apple’s cutting-edge “Apple Intelligence” feature set, marks a significant leap in performance for the tech giant’s latest phones.
In an exclusive interview with Geekerwan, Apple’s Vice President of Hardware Technology, Johny Srouji, explained the reasoning behind the increase. “DRAM is one aspect,” he said, referring to the memory bump that will enhance the capabilities of Apple Intelligence. He added that the extra RAM would also provide a substantial boost for resource-heavy tasks like high-end mobile gaming.
While Apple previously kept RAM specs under wraps, eagle-eyed developers at MacRumors discovered the 8GB figure hidden in Xcode shortly after the iPhone 16 was announced. The company has since confirmed that the new RAM capacity is essential to unlocking Apple Intelligence’s full potential, which won’t be available on the iPhone 15 due to its lower 6GB of RAM.
